September '22 (October edition) - ClearBank, leadership, and more fun with JWTs
A deep dive into JWE, python JWTs, and a new job.
Even more JWTs
There was a big update to my C# JWE article, which saw updated code samples and the inclusion of nested JWTs. I also extracted and expanded the JWE explanation into its own article, Understanding JWE.
I also took some of the learnings from when I was preparing my Pluralsight course’s Python demos and wrote them up in a new article.
If you haven’t already, do check out my latest Pluralsight course JWT Fundamentals to learn more about JWT security and usage.
Hello, ClearBank
The biggest news from September, at least for me, is that I started a new role as an Engineering Manager at ClearBank. The role is kicking my ass so far, but it’s great to feel like an imposter again.
ClearBank is going through a major stint of growth right now, so take a look at the open positions. If we’ve worked together in the past and you’re interested in applying, let me know, and we can discuss details 🙂
Leadership
I’ve had a few requests to start writing about leadership and my journey into management roles. I thought a good place to start would be via some book notes, which I’ve done for “The Art of Leadership”. This article covers my favorite takeaways from the book and some of my own reflections on the content.
You can also read about some of the reasons why I’m taking a break from the identity world in my latest role.
Next month
Next (this) month’s content is a write-up & comparison of OAuth’s client authentication mechanisms and more leadership book notes that are somehow already 6000 words. See you then.
